TBD carpools will be arranged once roster is set
Although open to all club members over age 18, this trip is also part of the B3 backpacking Building Blocks series and eligible for B3 course credit. In addition, this backpack will have a practical instructional/learning focus and offer experience in proper gear use and camp set-up techniques.

This trip is designed for beginners; easy traveling, good campsites, views, waterfalls, and two knowledgeable leaders to answer your backpacking questions.

We`ll arrange carpools after the roster is set, and start at the Mountain Loop Highway trailhead (4 miles past Barlow Pass) about 10am. If trail conditions are good (not too muddy), we`ll take the lower and more scenic trail to the lake, perhaps returning on the upper logging road trail to close the loop.

Expect a 1 ½ mph pace, with plenty of time for pack adjustments and snack breaks. Our large camping area is near the lake outlet, with lake explorations available up the eastern lakeshore. A leisurely start Sunday morning and gradual downhill grade will return us to the trailhead. Weather is unpredictable, so bring warm layers and raingear. Assistance with gear selection, food planning, and gear sharing will be included in leader emails prior to the trip. The trip may be moved or canceled if weather or trail conditions are unsafe on the trip dates.
