This backpack is designed for beginners. The hike into the meadow behind Humes Ranch is about 2 miles, with little climb. Contact the leader if you have any questions on equipment or food. There is a bear wire to protect food supplies. Make sure you are preparred for possible rain. A co-leader would be welcome. Contact Len. Recommended maps are either Greentrails Mt. Olympus or Custom Correct Hurricane Ridge. Check a WA road map to locate the turn from Hwy 101 into the Elwha Valley. There is a $10 fee for cars entering the Olympic park, and a $5 fee for an overnight backpack permit. We will meet at the Ranger Station just 0.2 miles past the entrance station.
