Enchanting? Dearly!  Follow the East Fork Quinault River through ancient and towering cathedral rain forest to a deep open valley in the heart of the Olympics, where waterfalls plunge down sheer walls and turn to hanging ice in winter.  Watch for harlequin ducks riding river rapids and elk and bears foraging the forest floor.  Explore cascades, river flats, maple glades, spruce groves, a thundering chasm, and a historical chalet.  This trip is an Olympic classic – the Enchanted valley's low elevation allows exploring late and early season, adding to its popularity.

Join us on a 3-day enchanting journey to the valley of 1000 waterfalls.  Our itinerary will be as follows:

Day 1:  Leave Graves Creek TH at 9:30am, travel 9.8 miles to camp at Pyrites Creek.

Day 2:  Day hike to Enchanted Valley and back, break our Pyrites Creek camp before noon and return to spend the second night at O'Neil Creek.  9.9 miles total.

Day 3:  Break camp at 8:00am and hike  out 6.7 miles to Graves Creek TH.

This is the rainforest, so be prepared for rain and mud.  Also in bear country, so bear canisters are required.

Participants might consider spending Thursday 6/12/2014 overnight at the Lake Quinault Lodge prior to our trip.
