11:00 AM at Elwha Ranger Station
This trip visits a very beautiful section of the lower Elwha Valley - with broad meadows and many deer. The wild river is close to camp. If this is your first backpack, we'll take good care of you. Side trips are possible. A co-leader would be welcome! Recommended maps are either Greentrails Mt. Olympus or Custom Correct Hurricane Ridge. Check a WA road map to locate the turn from Hwy 101 into the Elwha Valley. There is a $10 fee for cars entering the Olympic park, and a $5 fee for an overnight backpack permit. We will meet at the Ranger Station 3 miles past the entrance station. If you have any questions, contact me, Len Anderson, at len@lenanderson.com, 360-681-4984 home, 360-775-0184 cell
