11: AM at Elwha Ranger station
This trip visits a very beautiful section of the lower Elwha Valley - with broad meadows and many deer. The wild river is close to camp. If this is your first backpack, we'll take good care of you. Side trips are possible. A co-leader would be welcome! Recommended maps are either Greentrails Mt. Olympus or Custom Correct Hurricane Ridge. Check a WA road map to locate the turn from Hwy 101 into the Elwha Valley. There is a $10 fee for cars entering the Olympic park, and a $5 fee for an overnight backpack permit. We will meet at the Ranger Station just 0.5 mile past the entrance station. If you have any questions, contact me, Len Anderson, at, 360-681-4984 home, 360-808-0689 cell
