Enjoy an easy, single overnight trip to the old Elkhorn Campground along the Dosewallips River.
Day 1: Dosewallips Trailhead to Abandoned Elkorn Campground
We will meet at the Dosewallips Road Trailhead and hike along the abandoned Dosewallips Road to the old Elkhorn Campground (approximately 2.7 miles). We will setup camp, collect water, relax, and eat a snack or lunch. The group has the option to explore/hike further along the Dosewallips Trail for 1-2 hours. We will return to camp for dinner.
Day 2: Abandoned Elkhorn Campground to Dosewallips Trailhead
We will have a relaxing breakfeast and then packup. We will then hike along the road back to the trailhead.
No privy is available, so bring your poop kit. Bring a bear canister or ursack for food storage. We can share canisters and I have an extra one.
No fees or permit required to camp at the campground. According to the WTA site, no parking permit required. But if you have a Northwest Forest Pass, or the Interagency Pass, bring it. (Just in case, the rules change.)
