Splendor! Grandeur! Wilderness!
Summer Olympics backpacking event:
Day 1: Meet at Deer Park TH (5200') and jog down 3,000' to Three Forks. We'll then hike 7 mellow miles up Cameron Creek and set up camp along Cameron Creek at 4,200'. On day 2 we will hike up to Cameron Pass at 6500' and explore the upper Cameron Creek basin and ridges nearby. Day 3 we will hike out to Deer Park. Note that there is a steep climb of 3,000' over 4 miles to get back to Deer Park, payback for the easy jog down to the river...
Leader will likely go over to PA the day before to get our permit and bear cans (if necessary). As an NPS permit is required, the backup option will be going up the Gray Wolf river to Gray Wolf Pass, which also starts and ends at Deer Park.
