July 14, 2008 Update - Due to the lack of favorable trail conditions from the USFS, this backpack has been changed to an alternate loop over Twisp, McAllester and South Passes of approximately the same distance. July 17-20, Thur. – Sun. – Copper Pass Loop, Lake Chelan-Sawtooth Wilderness and North Cascades National Park, Washington (S) (Green Trails Map – Stehekin, No. 82) NWFP 21 mi, 5,500 gain. Moderate pace. This loop trip involves backpacking up two high passes on trails from approximately 3,600 feet: Copper Pass (6,700 feet) and Twisp Pass (6,064 feet).
