9:15 AM at Field's Point at Lake Chelan
Schoolteacher Special! This trip is a great 2-night backpack, but not everyone can get 2-nights off, so I am offering a 1-night --- almost as much fun --- version of this trip. If you can spare 2-nights, go with Kay Clayton in late April, and you will have a great time (and see more wildflowers). We will need to get a very early start from Seattle to catch the boat at Field's Point (a bit up the lake on the east side) at 9:30am; relax on the boat, arriving at Moore Point at noon; set up camp at Moore Point; and spend the afternoon hiking south towards Prince Creek. Sunday, hike north to Stehekin (6.3 miles), stopping to enjoy the great views from Hunts Bluff and Flick Creek. We will most likely see ratlesnakes, and ford some streams. Wild sorrel grows in this region and there could be good mushroom hunting in the aftermath of last year's forest fire. Call up the leader 206 297 7176 (before 9pm) to sign up.
