An email will be sent to all registered participants approximately a week prior to the departure date to complete logistics.  The coleaders are camping in the vicinity of Fields Point Landing on Sunday night.

This is a fabulous ramble among big pines, waterfalls, and wildflowers along lovely Lake Chelan to the unforgettable tiny settlement of Stehekin, accessible only by boat or foot. We’ll also experience the unfolding glory of the 55-mile-long “loch” from the deck of the Lady of the Lake II. This is a great trail for a first backpacking trip. We will spend time on-trail and at camp reviewing gear and methods and offering advice as needed. Note: while this trip is open to all club members, the trip is part of the Foothills Branch, B3 Backpacking Series.

Overview

We meet on Monday morning at Fields Point Landing on Lake Chelan to board the Lady of the Lake II boat.  After a couple hour boat ride, we start our hike from the Prince Creek ‘whistle-stop’ and walk the ups-and-downs of the Lakeshore Trail for a total of 17.5 miles and about 2,000 feet total elevation gain to the little town of Stehekin over three days.

Details

To get to the Prince Creek Trailhead, our boat departs from Fields Point Landing dock at 9:30 AM sharp on Monday Morning, May 29th (Monday of Memorial Day weekend). Fields Point Landing is about 4.5 hours from Seattle. Plan to either camp or hotel overnight in the vicinity, or make the drive starting very early on Monday morning.
