April 30-May 3, Thur. – Sun. – Chelan Lakeshore Trail, Lake Chelan-Sawtooth Wilderness and North Cascades National Park, Washington (M) (Green Trails Maps – No. 82 Stehekin, No. 114 Lucerne, No. 115 Prince Creek) NWFP 17.5 mi, 2,000’ gain. Moderate pace. This is a great spring backpack on a trail along Lake Chelan reaching a high point of 1,700’ feet between Prince Creek and Stehekin. The trail wanders up and down near shoreline, over high bluffs and rock buttresses with sweeping views, and through slot gorges with waterfalls. This is prime season for blooming wildflowers. We will camp in the Chelan area on Thursday night and on Friday morning catch the 8:30 a.m. boat to Prince Creek. We’ll camp at Meadows Creek on Friday night and Moore Point on Saturday night.
