The Chain Lakes Loop is an amazing trip with phenomenal views of Mt. Baker and Mt. Shuksan! Alpine lakes, wildlife, and blueberries are all here too. The weather should be cooler and nicer after labor day, and the crowds thin out a bit. Commonly done as a day trip, doing this trip as a backpack will allow us more time to take it all in and take some side trips, possibly up Ptarmigan Ridge or to Table Mountain. The specific direction of the loop (clockwise or counter-clockwise) as well as if we do a car shuttle will be decided later. New to backpacking or need a refresher? Check out the Backpacking Basics clinic on September 9th - it's a great way to prepare for this trip! Leader will arrange carpools. Loaner gear is available in limited supply: tents, sleeping pads, stoves, cook kits, and water filters. Contact leader for details.
