Last year nearly 1000 volunteers removed over 24 TONS of marine debris from the Washington Coastline, and the Mountaineers were there to help! Join me for the 2011 Coast Cleanup and this 2 night backpack trip to beautiful Cape Alava. We will hike to our campsite Friday morning, participate in the Coast Cleanup on Saturday, and return home on Sunday. Bring your binoculars, sketch books and cameras! This is a relaxed trip, and we will have plenty of time for beachcombing, photography, bird watching and enjoying the stunning beauty of the Coast. We will complete the Ozette triangle loop on Saturday and see the petroglyphs at Wedding Rocks. COST: Good news! the Olympic National Park has waived its permit fees and entrance fees for volunteers participating in the Coast Cleanup. The drive from Seattle is approximately 300 miles roundtrip and includes a ferry ride. Parking at the trailhead is limited, so carpooling is advised. Drivers are strongly encouraged to be fair when they have multiple riders. Ferry fees are divided equally among driver and passengers. Questions? Email is the best way to reach me, or call me in the evenings. No phone calls after 9:00 p.m. please.
