9:00 AM at Olympic National Park Visitor Center at 3002 Mt. Angeles Rd, Port Angeles
Join us to spend the night on the coast at Cape Alava. Campfires are permitted. There are some awesome low tides this weekend in the AM and we plan to spend some time exploring tidepools on the Cape. Plan to carpool to our meeting place at the Olympic National Park Visitor Center in Port Angeles. After a quick equipment check, we will drive together to Lake Ozette. Everyone needs to have a bear canister. They rent them out at the information center at a suggested (but not mandatory) donation of $3. Everyone who drives needs a National Parks permit for parking in the Olympics. A note on water: Filtering or boiling is necessary. The tablets don't work so well as it is known that there is Giardia and Cripto in the water. However, the steri-pens should work. Information on the hike can be found at http://www.wta.org/go-hiking/hikes/lake-ozette
