10-11 mile roundtrip; 1,450 feet total elevation gain, pace leisurely 1.5 MPH Book: Rain Shadow Hikes (trip 9), Hiking the North Cascades (Falcon Press) trip 65 calls this Chancellor Trail Special notes: Log crossing of boulder creek (second) with no guardrails. Trekking poles recommended for this trail in general. Map: GT 49 Mt Logan Itinerary: Camp near mill creek, and return. WTA Site: (partial) http://www.wta.org/go-hiking/hikes/canyon-creek-1 Pace: Slow Description: This trip starts with the thundering of deep chasms and crashing creeks. In late spring thousands of calypso orchids help perk up the forest floor in purple. Will we time it right? Tripgoers will get occasional glimpses of waterfalls and mountains and possibly explore an abandoned mill site. Note: while this trip is open to all club members, the focus of the trip will be instructional as it is also part of the Foothills Branch B3 Backpacking Series.
