  • Moderate
  • Mileage: 12.0 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 4,900 ft
  • High Point Elevation: 6,100 ft
  • Pace: 1.5 - 2.0 mph

A quick backpack to Bean Creek Basin. Camp at the basin and additional side trips to numerous vistas.  A great introduction to the Teanaway area.

Suggest 2 liters of water for the hike in, and good water available to filter at camp - group gear will be assigned once the roster is solidified. Room for multiple tents at the campsite, and no open campfires are permitted.

This trip will be fairly mellow so that everyone will have an opportunity to take in the views and enjoy themselves, and due to the relatively short trip we'll plan to leave the trailhead at 9:30 am, after meeting at the Tacoma Program Center and/or the North Bend Park & Ride.

Preference to Tacoma Branch Introduction to Backpacking Students - If not a student, please contact Geoff Lawrence for permission before signing up. Trip will open to all Mountaineers based on availability on July 3. Registered participants must provide leader with proof of vaccination before the trip.

We'll plan to leave from the trailhead at 9:30 am and take no more that 2 cars to the TH so please plan to carpool.  We'll meet at the Tacoma Program Center and/or the North Bend Park & Ride to consolidate - Leave Tacoma Program Center at approximately 7:00 am, and the North Bend P&R at approximately 8:00 am.
