The eastern side of Baker lake makes a great early season backpacking trip. Not much elevation gain, sometimes low woodland spring flowers have started. We may even catch a glimpse of the elusive mountain itself! We'll take a leisurely pace. Note that this trip currently has an unbridged stream crossing. The intention is to do ~11 miles round-trip from the southern TH (6 miles each way), so this could make a good first backpacking trip for you; if we get to the destination early and set up camp, we can either do a day hike further up the lake or simply enjoy the lake. Trip open to mountaineers members only (no guest members). Leader will communicate and coordinate carpooling and meeting place logistics via email and the phone with those who sign up. Meeting time of 8am is near Seattle --
