Family backpacking trip to lower Anderson Lake. Easy hike though the forest and camp mountain views. This trip has priority registration for Backpacking with Kids 2025 participants until June 22 and then will be available to any family (adult with a child).

Join us for a family-friendly backpacking adventure to Lower Anderson Lake, a hidden gem in the North Cascades near Mt. Baker! This trip is designed with kids in mind, offering a manageable trail length with some elevation gain but plenty of rewards along the way. The route features scenic boardwalks, open meadows, and breathtaking views of Mt. Baker, making it a fun and engaging trip for all ages.
Our destination, Lower Anderson Lake, boasts a grassy campsite, perfect for setting up a cozy base. Kids will love the opportunities for water play and running free in the open space.
This trip is a fantastic way to introduce young adventurers to backpacking, nature exploration, and the joy of sleeping under the stars in a safe and beautiful setting. Come make lasting memories with your family in the heart of the North Cascades!

Required Equipment
The Ten Essentials plus overnight gear which may include:
- Tent with footprint/ground tarp
- Stove and fuel
- Sleeping bag
- Sleeping pad
- Water filter
- Bear canister or extra stuff sack and cord designated for hanging food
- Cooking pot/pan with plate and utensils
- Toilet paper and shovel or blue bag to deal with waste
