This backpack trip is open to all club members over age 18 with an up-to-date waiver on file. This trip is also is part of the B3 Backpacking Building Blocks series and qualifies toward B3 course graduation credit. In addition, this backpack will have a practical instructional/learning focus and offer experience in proper gear use and camp set-up techniques.

All Mountaineer activities, including backpack trips, are restricted to members over the age of 18 unless the trip is explicitly listed as a youth activity and led by a Qualified Youth Leader. This backpack trip is for adults age 18+.

On the first day, we will begin at Icicle Creek trail head and hike along this bubbling creek for most of the day until we reach Frosty Pass and soak in the aspiring views of mountains. We will take time to visit lovely Lake Margaret. If time permits, we will take a side trip and camp at lower Grace Lake and have fabulous views of Snowgrass Mountain. 13 miles 3500 feet.

Day 2 will find us with more time to explore the Alpine Lakes. Early in the day, our first enchanting lakes will be lower and upper Florence Lakes. Other lakes that we may investigate include Lake Mary, Lake Flora and Lake Edna. On the way, we pass over Ladies pass and enjoy the alpine meadows and views. 9 miles 1000 feet.

One the last day, we will have time to visit any of the lakes and alpines basins that we may have missed on the previous day. We will descend steeply down Chatter Creek trail with its views of Grindstone Mountain and surrounding peaks. 8 miles 500 feet.
