We will send out details a few days prior to this run confirming our meeting time and place, schedule, transportation, weather, and required equipment. Island services are generally limited this time of year, bring most of what you'll need with you. Snow and inclement weather is likely this time of year.
Please review the elevation and distance before requesting leader permission. When requesting leader permission, send a link to your Strava, Mountaineers profile, race results, etc, where I can verify your conditioning and training within the last year.
Please note that if there is limited interest on one of the loops we'll probably drop a loop, recreating a route with distances people are comfortable running.
13.5 mile, 3700ft loop -> Gaia
12 mile, 3600ft loop -> Gaia
20 mile, 5600ft loop -> Gaia
Wait listing is encouraged. More spots will be added if there is demand.
We'll be taking the first ferry sailing of the day to get us to Orcas Island, once on Orcas head to Moran State Park to the road side parking across from Cascade lake. After a debrief of the route and introductions, we'll get shoes on road/trail starting with the 13.5 mile loop first around 8 am. For those who wish to join us later in the day for the 2nd loop, guesstimate ETA to parking lot will be roughly ~12 noon. This is a backcountry run due to limited cell service. Experience has shown that our second loop will be much slower than the first, however our overall objective is a fun social pace with consideration for limited daylight.
A Discover Pass is required for parking.
