Backcountry Trail Run - Mailbox Peak
A sunset delivery to the mailbox! Power hike up the old, run down the new. A great conditioner for climbers, scramblers, and runners. Also a good chance to practice downhill running at night.

Meet at the parking lot below the gate at 6:00pm.
Do not park in the main parking lot as we will be returning after dark and you do not want to risk being locked in.
There will be a carpool leaving from downtown Seattle at 5.
We will power hike up the old trail, dine at the mailbox, and run down the new.
This is a conditioning trail run with the idea of practicing power hiking up the hills and running downhill in the dark. We will maintain a steady pace stopping only at the top for a quick snack, before descending back to the cars at the TH.
At least part of the decent will be in the dark, so you need to have a headlight or some other light source.
For pace, I am thinking that this should take in the neighbourhood of 1.5 hours to get tp the summit and maybe 2.5 to 3 hours overall.
I will send out an email a couple of days before the run with last minuted details
