Paradise Glacier


Backcountry Ski/Snowboard - Paradise Glacier

Beautiful tour from Paradise up the Paradise Glacier then over to the top of the Nisqually Glacier chute at GR 596700, 51859 then down and back to Paradise. The chute is either a single or double black diamond run depending on conditions.

Meet at the South west corner of the Grady way Park and ride lot which is about a mile NW of the intersection of  route 167 and I 405 in Renton at 6:00  AM  if you want to carpool , or at 8 AM  at the NE corner of the upper Paradise parking lot ( closest to the Paradise Inn)

We will travel from Paradise up to the Edith creek Basin, up to Golden Gate, then up to the pass that is about .3 KM NW of the Cowlitz rocks Summit, then up to Paradise glacier, then over to the Muir Snowfield at about 8400 ft., the over to the top of the Nisqually chute at about 8300 ft. then down the cute to the glacier morain  at about 6000 ft, then up to  Paradise.  The Chute is either a single or a double black diamond depending on conditions. The average steepness is about 36 degrees with a few sections being slightly steeper.  The exposure is minimal.
