This is a one day trip to ski Heliotrope Ridge on the north side. Approach via Heliotrope Ridge trail to lower climbers camp and tour to high point of the ridge. 4000 vertical. Descent via open bowls down Grouse Creek drainage. Must be confident and comfortable skiing firm corn slopes up to 35 degrees. Final descent involves carrying skiis through relatively open forest for 700 vertical. An outstanding summer corn snow tour, and the opportunity to pick up fresh Nooksack/Skagit Valley strawberries.
