Mt Adams — South Rib / Southwest Chutes Exact timing will be weather and road melt-out dependent — must have good weather and be able to drive with a mile or so of Cold Springs at 5600ft. Drive down the day before and hike/ski to snow camp somewhere around 7500ft Early start to allow a slow-moderate pace (700-1000vft per hour) for the 5000 foot gain to the summit. If conditions are favorable (corn, not ice or mush) descent Southwest chutes for 4000ft fall-line skiing at 35-40 degrees or follow ascent route with is a more moderate descent. Due to long steep slopes, self-arrest tools and skills as well as crampons required.
