Actual route will depend on snow, avalanche and weather conditions. If NWAC issues an avalanche warning or our own evaluation of snow safety is concerning, an alternate, safer destination will be chosen by group consensus. Example alternates: Nordic Pass route or in-bounds lift skiing. Heavy rain or freezing rain cancels for sure.

Also note the rating for this trip is M1, which seems a bit low, more like a M1.5.

If conditions are favorable we will start at the PCT trailhead and follow the old Commonweath basin trail into the basin and use the log bridge to cross the creek. We continue roughly following the Red Pond trail . Careful snowpack will be needed before climbing too far above the forested basin.
