Good introductory backcountry trip. , climb up old logging roads and hiking trails. Forest in the lower portion of the tour has been thinned in the last two years opening up new possibilities for turns -- if there is enough snowpack anyway. The ascent route follows logging roads and a hiking trail. The hiking trail follows a ridgeline -- with inherent lower avalanche hazard. On the descent Blue run capable skiers can enjoy some turns through clear-cuts to the west of the ridge. There are more clearcuts and roads than are shown on current USGS topo maps. Climbing Skins, an avalanche Beacon, Shovel, Probe and skills to use them are needed on this tour. Trip will include a beacon search practice session. About 7 miles and 2600 ft. elevation gain round trip.
