Trip

Backcountry Ski/Snowboard - Camp Muir & Anvil Rock

Ski from Paradise to Camp Muir and enjoy 4,600 feet of turns all the way back down.

  • M2 Advanced Ski, Snow Scramble, Winter Scramble, Very Strenuous
  • Challenging
  • Mileage: 10.0 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 4,600 ft

A spring ski trip to Camp Muir is a yearly tradition, and Mothers' Day will be extra epic!  No timed-entry permit required for Paradise Visitor Center, but allow extra time for morning traffic.

This is a strenuous ascent to 10k feet.  I'm planning on a steady pace of about 1,000 ft/hr, reaching Camp Muir in about 5 hours.

In your email for permission to join, please tell me your current fitness, backcountry skiing ability, and your ski gear for the trip.  Heavier in-bounds oriented side country gear will slow you down.  AIARE 1 or equivalent avalanche and companion rescue training required.
