7:30 AM at I-90 exit 20 (Tiger Mt trailhead)
We'll start at the Granite Mt trailhead (exit 47) (unless the road to the Talapus Lake trailhead is melted out) and follow the trail to the NE end of Ollalie Lake. We'll then head NE into a bowl where we will practice our ice-ax self arrest (especially for any students on the trip) before cresting the ridge. We'll follow the ridge eastward to the summit 5566. Notes: yes, this trip is scheduled for a Friday. Yes, this trip is ideal for students who have completed their snow travel field trip. Yes, we will meet at Tiger Mt trailhead and consolidate cars -- I don't want to hog space at a Park-and-Ride for the commuters. If avalanche conditions are a concern, we will divert westward from Ollalie Lake and summit Pratt Mt instead. Snowshoes and ice axes required. 8 miles, 3500 feet gain.
