7:00 AM at Issaquah Transit Center / Park and Ride
West Granite (also known as Tusk O'Granite) is located just West of the main Granite Mountain summit at Exit 47 on I-90.

MEETING PLACE:
Meet inside the Issquah Transit Center parking garage on the first floor in the Northeast corner at 7:00 AM. Call me on my cell phone at 425-442-6411 if you are running late and want us to wait for you.

GEAR:
- Snowshoes with agressive points on the bottom such as MSR are required.
- Crampons are not required, but you might prefer them on the ridge
- Avalanche Becon is optional but is always recommended.
- Avalanche shovel and/or probe are optional, but we must have 4 of each for the group. - A Northwest Forest Pass is required for parking at the trailhead

ROUTE:
We will hike the trail to the north side of Ollalie Lake. From there we will ascend the ridge then go east up the west ridge of West Granite. From the summit we will follow the south ridge a couple hundred feet, then turn west and go straight down the 38 degree slopes through big timber to Ollalie Lake. We will then follow the trail back to the cars.
We did this route a few years ago in high avalanche conditions and had a great time. The west ridge is scoured enough to be safe in any conditions, yet does not get the bullet proof ice found on other slopes. The route down is quite steep, but if the snow is deep it is loads of fun. Because of the large trees, there is no avy danger.
