Tatoosh Range Traverse

Trip

Alpine Scramble - Tatoosh Range Traverse

Seven summits potentially in one day.

  • Strenuous 5, Technical 5
  • Challenging
  • Mileage: 10.0 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 5,000 ft

Meet at Longmire behind the lodge at 6am. I plan to camp at Cougar Rock the night before. I recommend all participants camp for a restful and early start. There are still campsites available as of this posting, but they won't last. Each campsite should hold up to 6 people according to the park service campsite registration website.

Transport participants to Pinnacle Peak trailhead then shuttle car to Longmire. Hike trail to Tatoosh ridge and begin scrambling and hiking: Pinnacle, Plummer, Denman, Lane, Waypenayo, Chutla, and Eagle. Then hike to Longmire.

Helmet, hasty/diaper harness, prussic and locking carabiner. Boots worthy of rock scrambling. Plenty of water. For this to work, participants should have good conditioning and feel comfortable on rock with some exposure.
