Alpine Scramble - Tamanos Mountain

Let’s scramble Tamanos Mountain near Rainier! A solid 3-2 for students, but all are welcome to sign up for this moderate day-scramble.

We’ll start at the Owyhigh Lakes Trailhead, (the northern one, not Owyhigh South) at 7:45 a.m., boots on the trail at 8 a.m. 46.8908405036429, -121.59661627725006.

Our main goals will be to support each other to have a good time, create an inclusive trip, and return to the cars safely. We'll aim to summit a Smoot's List peak - Tamanos Mountain - by hiking in around 3½ miles, taking a climber’s trail to gain the ridge, then scrambling to the summit - weather permitting. We’ll keep a moderate pace. Everyone will be expected to contribute to route finding, group decision-making, general merriment, etc. We'll have a backup plan along I-90 if rain. We will recognize current Mountaineers COVID protocol. Please review and agree to the the Mountaineers Code of Conduct to attend. We will also practice safe social distancing as recommended by Mountaineers and the CDC while in groups together.
