Trip
Alpine Scramble - Spire Mountain
We'll set out from the parking spot on North Fork Skykomish River Road (FS Rd 63) at first light, taking an all off-trail route southward up the slopes toward Spire Mountain. The final west ridge route has exposure, and a rope may be used in places. An excellent route description with great photos can be researched on the Spire Mountain SummitPost page.

Meet at 5:15 am at the "trailhead" on FS Road 63, just west of the bridge at 1156.' Note that you access this via Skykomish, Beckler River Road, and Jacks Pass-- you cannot get through from Index.
I plan to drive to the trailhead Friday evening and car camp there. This would be the recommended way to go if you don't want to have to leave town at 3am Saturday morning.
Participants should be comfortable with exposure and should be prepared for a short pitch of roped climbing on rock, plus a short rappel. Bring a regular seat harness, belay/rappel device, a few carabiners and runners.
