Mount Phelps, 5535' (2-4) (USGS Mt. Phelps) 4 mi., 3000' gain. Meet at the North Bend B&G; by 7 a.m. Phelps is the prominent peak resembling the back of a fist that you can locate at a bearing of 85 degrees from the UW, or 78 degrees from W Seattle. From other locations - well, grab your compass, pull a map out of the glove compartment and figure it out. The approach is up the N Fork Snoqualmie River, 24 road miles from downtown North Bend. I was able to drive to just below the old Blackhawk Mine site on 5/27/06, meaning that this is currently a 4-mile, 3000' S2-T4 scramble. Helmets and ice axes REQUIRED. Ed Dominguez will co-lead. Call leader with questions - Tom Cushing 206-935-6802.
