Alpine Scramble - Pearl Falls & Pyramid Peak

A rare, challenging, and beautiful visit to Pearl falls. We will also summit Copper, Iron, and Pyramid Peak on the first day of this 2 day, 17 mile, 6000 ft. elevation gain trip.

Various park and rides to accommodate attendees, then 6:30AM at the Longmire WIC.

On our first day we will hike the Wonderland trail from Longmire (over Rampart Ridge), before watering up at Squaw Lakes (near Devil’s Dream Campsite).  From there we will ascend the southern aspect of Iron Mountain, traverse over Copper Mountain, then descend into the basin south of Pyramid Peak.  On the south ridge of Pyramid Peak (est. ~6000’) we will drop our overnight packs to summit Pyramid Peak, then descend and cross the ridge into Pyramid Park (our campsite).  The morning of our 2nd day we will undertake the rare, challenging, and beautiful visit to Pearl Falls.  We will exit Pyramid Park via the northern side of Pyramid Peak to afford views of the rapidly deteriorating S. Tahoma Glacier from Pt. 6631.  Based on party preferences, we can exit via Longmire, Kautz Creek, or the west side road.  Photos from other Pyramid Peak trips can be seen here, and photos pertaining to Pearl Falls can be seen here.  You can read about Pearl falls on Wikipedia here.  Party size of 5 is dictated by Mount Rainier National Park Alpine Zone restrictions.
