This is a full day of travel. We'll start before sunrise and be doing good to get back to the cars before dark. This can be a very hard slog for some or an enjoyable long walk for others. It really depends on your own conditioning and attitude. Let's make it an enjoyable long walk!

If timing is good, we may drop down to Lake of the Angels on our way down the mountain.

A NOTE ON CONDITIONING - You need to be in good shape for this. That does not mean that you go to the gym a lot! That means that you are actively and regularly putting on a pack with weight and hiking several miles. That is the only way to really get in good shape for these kinds of activities. I expect you to, and the team depends on you to, be in good shape, capable of doing this trip. Please be ready. This is not an elitist thing. It is a safety matter. Know that the Putvin trail is known to be a steep and strenuous hike.

Fall/winter trips are always a roll of the dice. Conditions can vary and change the plans last minute. We're hoping for good conditions and weather that make for a great day! In any case, this is a long day. A good size lunch and a few snacks will be needed. Water is available on the route. We'll want a couple of filters for the group. You will need to carry enough water to get to the water sources. I recommend 2 liters minimum.
