8/31: Hike into and camp at Two Bear
9/1: Try both Steel and Hopper generally via the routes from First Divide as described in the Climbers Guide to the Olympic Mountains; this will be a long day! Camp at Two Bear again.
9/2: Hike out.
The canned description for this trip lists it as an S1, but due to the long hike in/out and the long scramble day it will be much harder than S1; I'd go with S4.
Since this is relatively short notice, we will not have much opportunity to plan community gear, but I will try to coordinate with whoever signs up the best I can. Nevertheless, please plan on being mostly self sufficient. I will have a MOFA kit.
Bear canisters are not required as there is bear wire at Two Bear. The Park's website indicates that there are no bear canisters available at the Staircase Ranger Station. Hence you will have to bring your own if you want to use one; I do have one I can loan.
Required Gear: helmet, harness or webbing and other gear to tie into a fixed line, ice ax and/or poles.
