Since we will basically only have one day for scrambling, we will try Mt. Steel first and see if time allows for attempting Mt. Hopper.

The default information for this trip lists it as a "S1". Given that it 24-26 miles just getting in/out on the trail, I would consider it a "S4". The scrambling is Class 1 on Steel, per the Olympic Mountains Climbing Guide (OMCG), 3rd Ed., and I understand it is mostly way trail to Hopper, although the OMCG lists it as Class II.

My plan for camping is to camp at Two Bear Camp, which is about a 12 mile hike, or maybe Home Sweet Home, which is about 13.5 miles. Two Bear is a little closer to the start of the Mt. Steel scramble, and it looks less exposed to the weather than Home Sweet Home.

If drenching rain is forecast I will probably cancel the trip.
