This trip begins at the Staircase Ranger Station in Olympic National Park. These peaks are on the Olympia Scramble Peaks list, and I have not done them. Here is a quick itinerary:

8/16: Hike into and camp at Two Bear
8/17: Try both Steel and Hopper via the routes from First Divide as described in the Climbers Guide to the Olympic Mountains; this will be a long day! Camp at Two Bear again.
8/17: Hike out.

The canned description for this trip lists it as an S1, but due to the long hike in/out and the long scramble day it will be much harder than S1; I'd go with S4.

Since this is short notice, we will not have much opportunity to plan community gear, but I will try to coordinate the best I can. Nevertheless, please plan on being mostly self sufficient. I will have a MOFA kit.

Bear canisters are not required there is bear wire at Two Bear. However, I do have an extra one that I can loan.

Bring gear to tie into a fixed line, helmet, ice axe and/or poles.

Finally, my home internet is currently down, hence if you have immediate questions please call me at either my home number (listed) or cell: 360.789.9408.
