  • Strenuous 5, Technical 3
  • Challenging
  • Mileage: 11.0 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 4,500 ft
  • Pace: 1.0-2.0 mph

We will organize carpools separately, but will meet at White River Campground at 7am. MRNP or National Parks pass required of all drivers.

This is a conditioning scramble for an Emmons Route Rainier attempt at the end of June. The primary goal is Mount Ruth with a stretch goal of Steamboat Prow just above Camp Schurman. The pace will be slower since some of us will be carrying heavier packs than normal, but no one is obligated to bring training weight.

Scrambling to Mount Ruth is a T3 snow scramble. If the group chooses to explore the Steamboat Prow add-on, it would become a T4 scramble. Steamboat Prow adds about 2 miles and 1,200 ft gain.

Leader Permission Required

Due to the distance and gain, leader permission is required. Participants should be regularly conditioning. Mount Si in <2 hr is a good benchmark.
