This is a fantastic trip that I did several times in the twenty-tens. Timed for the height of the fall foliage season, the scenery will be stunning. David and I have tried to lead it every year since 2017 but for one reason or another haven't succeeded (such as closed roads, Covid, adverse weather, ankle injuries, etc). Let's hope that this year we succeed.
We will choose to go either on Saturday or on Sunday, choosing late in the week the one with the better weather. Please only sign up if you can commit to keeping both days open. We will not have time to shuffle the roster once we pick the date.
As stated above, half the group will traverse east to west and half will traverse west to east. We will exchange car keys in the middle. If you drive to Verlot, you must be willing to let someone else drive your car from Verlot to a trailhead along forest service roads. You will pick up your car at that trailhead at the end of your scramble.
This trip is very popular. Registration will fill quickly. Set your alarm now to sign up when registration opens Sept 1 at 8:00 pm. Because we need more co-leaders, existing scramble leaders can contact us earlier to get registered.
Verlot Public Service Center (aka the ranger station) at 7:30 am.
