4:00 AM at Olympic NP VC Port Angeles
Mount Angeles, 6454' (R2-4) (USGS Mt. Angeles) 7 miles, 1800' gain. PHOTO SCRAMBLE. Helmet, ice axe, good camera with extra memory cards and batteries, communication radio, food and water for a long day, and head lamp with extra batteries required. The intent is to be on the trail by sunrise and on, near, or in the meadow below the summit at sunset and full moon rise. We may require a nap during the afternoon. Sunrise over Hurricane Ridge, wild flowers, wildlife, world class views, picturesque mountain, natural bonsai, a full moon rising before sundown, and a scramble summit. Scramble grads and students only, please. Mountaineers photo course helpful. Meet at the Olympic NP VC in Port Angeles by 4 a.m. Since ferries do not run that early, recommend camping or motelling near Port Angeles Friday.
