Assuming the road is open and clear to the trailhead, we will casually drive down to the trailhead on Wednesday morning (no alpine start!) and climb to the summit in one push. You must be in good shape and capable of doing the climb efficiently in one day. We will then bivy on the summit and descend the next morning after a leisurely breakfast. I want to have a civilized outing, so unsettled weather cancels the scramble. Participants must have some altitude experience before and be prepared to tent or bivy at 12,000+ feet. Although the pace will be moderiate, participants must be in good shape in order to gain the elevation (6000+ feet) to the summit in one day. Participants must purchase a Cascade Volcanoes Pass ($10). This will be an excellent training experience for those planning on a climb of a bigger mountain like Rainier later in the season.
