  • Strenuous 5, Technical 4
  • Mileage: 14.0 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 6,600 ft
We will leave Seattle area around noon on Fri., drive down, get permit at Ranger Station, drive up road as far as it is open possibly all the way to the trailhead, bivy at cars, leave cars early on Saturday and complete the scramble, drive home Saturday night. Road is notoriously bad. Elevation gain is considerable (it will probably be about 7800 ft from car to summit based on information from the ranger station on 5/9/05). Benchmark fitness level would be Mt. Si car to base of haystack in less than 2 hours and known ability to gain over 6000 feet in one day, preferably at similar altitude, plus competent glissading. E-mail leader for further details. Trip will happen only if the weather is good. No fees other than carpool expense. Volcano fee starts on June 1. TRIP IS CANCELLED DUE TO WEATHER
