Alpine Scramble - McGregor Mountain

Boat cruise, hike, and camping scramble to beautiful Stehekin alpine zone. 360' views unlike any other.

  • Technical 3, Strenuous 5
  • Moderate
  • Mileage: 16.0 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 6,680 ft

TBD - Oct 7 - we'd leave after work sometime to stay night close to ferry landing in Chelan.  Oct 8 - 10th we ferry, hike, and climb to the top of the world.  Carpooling  likely from Issaquah Transit or leaders home in Renton.

Oct 7 (Friday) - drive to Lake Chelan via I-90 and stay night. Departing from South Seattle/Issaquah area.

Oct 8  - early start and catch first fast ferry north to Stehekin, check-in, bus north, hike a LOT of up, then setup alpine camp

Oct 9 - scramble  to McGregor Peak and enjoy amazing views from top and camp

Oct 10 (Monday) - return to Stehekin ferry by noon for one-n-only ferry ride back.  Drive home.

--------------------------------------

Shared group costs: driving, hotel Oct 7 somewhere in Chelan or close-by (early start to catch ferry), and ferry ride (about $43-49/pp/each-way).  Permits are free.  I can make the group reservation on the ferry, so until we talk, don' buy them yourself.

Note - please contact me directly if like to join the trip as there are multiple logistics to handle and I NEED to MAKE reservations ASAP for the ferry and shuttle.  There are limited spots and sailings this time of year, but there's still room for us.

Also note - there's a LOT of up in one-full day, but we'll make sure it's a fun time for all and with whole day of rest we shouldn't be "too tired"!  Yes - we WILL  be sleeping in! :)  Weather of course dictates our return or whether we cancel trip.  Alternate trip  likely Mt. Daniel or also based on weather.  Questions - let me know.    ph# 425-577-4584
