Alpine Scramble - McClellan Butte

This climb is for Tacoma Scramble Students only. We'll meet near Safeway in North bend leaving at 7:30, carpool and then all drive to higher trail head (not the one at I 5 elev). There could be snow on lower route so bring micro spikes and axe.

Meeting place and time

Meet at clock tower just west of Safeway in same parking lot. (Take the first exit for North Bend when coming from Seattle. McDonalds, Starbuck etc. are at this exit). We'll leave the lot at 7:30 am so arrive earlier than that so we can carpool. We'll convoy from there on I-90 getting off at exit 38. We do not start from the standard trail head.

This is a rock scramble, but bring an ice axe and spikes just in case the gullies have snow.

Leader's notes

This is a fun climb and we should be back at trail head by 2:00, but just in case, don't plan other later activities.

Students need to have completed their conditioner to go on this climb and have completed the Scramble rock field trip
