Alpine Scramble - Little Si

Alpine Scramble - Little Si

Slower-paced, fun evening scramble up Little Si

  • Easy/Moderate, Technical 4
  • Moderate
  • Mileage: 5.0 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 1,200 ft

Please be ready to go at 6pm at the Little Si Trailhead. The trailhead is at the 2nd parking lot after the bridge on Mt. Si Road. The two parking lots are very close together.  There is a restroom by the trailhead in the main parking lot -- we are meeting here.  If this main (2nd as you drive in) parking lot is full, drive back to the first parking lot (the overflow lot) and walk from there to the trailhead parking lot on the connecting trail/pathway.  The Mt. Si Road is reached by exiting I-90 at 436th Ave SE (exit 32), turning left (north) at the end of the exit, continuing to the T junction, where you turn left (west) and then turn right (north) in a short distance onto the Mt. Si Road.  A Discover Pass must be displayed in each car parked at the trailhead. Please be on-time.  Carpooling is still not recommended. An email will go out the evening before the activity.

This will be a slower-paced rock and dirt scramble to let less experienced scramblers gain more familiarity with foot placements and balance without the added stress of having to keep up on a bigger scramble; however, we will still try to stay ahead of the mosquitoes, so everyone should have a good fitness base from outdoor activities.  Leave your ice axe home. This is rated as a T4 due to one section called the "Open Book" which could seem scary, but it is not very high and if you have the mindset that playing on rocks is fun, there is a less-obvious spot to stick a right foot that will make it much easier.

We will take the regular trail back to the cars and then if anyone is interested, perhaps we will find an outdoor place on the way home where we can enyoy some refreshments or ice cream while socially distancing.

Be sure to bring your mask and be prepared to pull it up when near others or passing  others on the trail.
