Little Si, a side summit to the west of the much larger Mount Si, is home to good views of the larger Si as well as partial views to the north (Fuller Mtn.) and good views to the south (Rattlesnake Mountain and Cedar Butte). The easiest way to the summit is the north side Class 1 Little Si trail but we will take a challenging scramble route on the south side.

Drive east on I-90 33 miles to Exit 32 and head north on 436th Ave. SE for a half mile. Take a left on North Bend Way and at about a quarter of a mile make a right on the Mount Si road. Head over the bridge and stay on the road where you will see the Little Si trailhead on your left about 1000 feet from the bridge. It is well marked.

- Ice Axes and helmets are required and we will decide at the trailhead what to bring.
- Discovery Pass ($10) is now required for this and all Washington State Parks, so coordinate your carpools and Discovery Passes carefully. You can get it at REI, Big 5, etc. Here is a link for more info:

This trail begins at the very popular Little Si trailhead (also home to the Old Mount Si trail) and begins heading uphill right away on moderate switchbacks. The trail then becomes gradual and head past the cutoff for both the boulder loop on Mount Si and the Old Mount Si trail (both leaving on the right). The trail stays gradual as it enters the pass between Si and Little Si. Here leave the main trail and head west to the base of Little Si. Look for climber's trail on left hillside. Ascend through dirt, brush, rock, skirting small cliffs moving occasionally right until cliffed out. Go through trees on faint trail left along wall. When ends, go up small chimney (10 feet), good hand holds and foot holds but dicey when wet. At top is small grassy ledge. Then must do another small pitch a little more difficult than first; grassy slippery, no holds. Good rest stop/views at top of this section. Then move right over rock slabs, gravel and brush following cliff wall closely. A lot of brief exposure between chimney and end of this section. After climb through trees, trail becomes clear. Moves left up through rock, then right up over good rock to summit. Option to descend via climbing route or hiking trail.
