Meet geared-up and ready to go at 08:20 am at the Iron Peak Trailhead, which is near the DeRoux Campground, on the N. Fork Teanaway River Road. This is 4.5 miles (About 20 min) beyond the Beverly Campground where we did briefings for the Teanaway Experience Field Trip, so plan this added time into your drive. We can park along the road, or there may be parking at the DeRoux Campground. NW Forest Pass or equivalent is required. No crampons.
This is an opportunity for students to get a snow scramble. We may add Teanaway Peak if we have consensus to do so, or we can spend some time practicing snow or maybe rock travel. There are no planned creek crossings for this trip. We will hike eastward up the Iron Peak trail to Eldorado Pass (Approx 6,200 ft). At the Pass we will turn south and scramble to the Iron Peak summit (6,510 ft). When we return to the Pass we will assess interest in Teanaway Peak (6,778 ft). We will return the way we came up.
