7:15 AM at Exit 47
Book of Leviathan, 8:9: And the Lord saith 'climb Humpback Mountain on this day'. Fear not the snow, sleet, and wind, for they will be held at bay for the summit attempt. And so it was. From Seattle, take I-90 to Exit 47. Turn right at the end of the off ramp and drive over the freeway to the T in the road. We will meet here and decide if we can drive the couple miles south to the base of the NW ridge or if we will park here and intercept the railroad grade. Meet here at 7:15 sharp. Bring ice axe, helmet, snowshoes, and anything else you need for a winter scramble. Bring a shovel if you have one. Beacons optional. I will swing by the Mercer Island Park & Ride (main one, 7800 N Mercer Way) at 6:20 SHARP if anyone wants a ride, otherwise please arrange carpools if possible. Please let me know if you plan on meeting me at the P&R.; DRIVERS: BRING A NW FOREST PASS. Please e-mail me with any questions. Sign up is open until Friday evening.
