  • After meeting up, we will convoy to the trailhead which is a couple miles up Forest Service roads.
  • High clearance vehicle recommended for the drive to the trailhead.
  • Northwest Forest Pass required.
  • This is a mentored scramble trip for Sarah McClellan.  Please direct all communications to Sarah (mcclellan.sarah@gmail.com).

  • Our primary goal is to travel together as a group at a moderate pace and enjoy each other's company!  We will aim for  1000-1200'/hr elevation gain with 5 minute breaks every hour.  If the weather is nice, we'll take a 30 minute break at the summit.

  • We will scramble up the NW ridge from the "summer" trailhead.  It is a steep, unmaintained trail that covers 2,700' of elevation gain in a little over 2 miles.  Below the summit (and at the summit block) we will cross boulder fields which may still be snow covered, requiring use of ice axe.  Depending on snowmelt between now and the trip date, we could also find exposed or partially exposed rock, requiring rock scrambling skills.   If the weather cooperates, we will have beautiful 360 degree views of the surrounding I-90 corridor mountains.

  • Please make sure you are conditioned for the steepness of the trail and come prepared for whatever snow and rock scrambling conditions which we may find along the route.

  • If inclement weather, this trip may be cancelled or changed.

  • Further details to be sent to participants in the pre-trip email ~3 days prior to the trip.
